Tranquility

G S Majgaokar, born in a low to do family of potters. Having believed himself a responsible member of family, started to earn livelihood daily at early age through earthen artifacts with dignity at busy Mahadwar Road, Kolhapur. It was evidence of asserting the foundation then, of a great artist now. He gained basic art knowledge at Dalvi’s Art Institute under guidance of D. V. Vadangekar Sir. And his knowledge was polished by the feedbacks from eminent sculptor Ravindra Mestry. And realization of an artist took place. Later, he himself became art teacher at Kalavishwa Kala Mahavidyalay, Sangli. As ever he himself is a life time learner, hence he got himself mentored by Prof. Tilve Sir. While teaching, he kept flourishing the intriguing artist inside him. From many of the elements in our self-development lies the friendship and Majgaokar is blessed with richness of friends like eminent artist M R Deshmukh, Gulzar Gawali. With them he has executed group shows for at least 15 times alone in Jehangir Art Gallery. All of them aware and responsible for bringing a modern reform in Kolhapur’s traditional realistic world of art. A landscape painting is a beautiful dream for him that he construes on his canvas. He is a nature lover like the inquisitive Van Gogh. He is most happy when he paints. Painting nature is his expression of love to it and gratitude to the creator. He has an exceptional soothing palette, well-adjusted composition of complementary colours and forms. I trust a thought that painting and an artists are no different. Artist’s work speaks out his personality. And just like his calmer works, he is a calm man for his family, friends and students. He has mentored many successful art students. He is a resourceful person seeking many awards for his excellence in teaching, painting, unbiased adjudicating art competitions and many more.
